Sessions & Fees
Sessions are generally 1 hour, with the first session being an hour and a half, allowing people the opportunity to gain a sense of whether we can work together.
At Bays Counselling I operate on a negotiated sliding scale depending on the person’s circumstances (waged, unwaged, etc). As a general rule fees are: for the first session $120. Following that $80 per hour for individuals. Where there is more than one person being worked with, $145 (these rates are negotiable).
Are the sessions weekly?
I believe it’s better if people come to sessions weekly in the beginning until we can work out what help they specifically need. At first people are often feeling very anxious, upset and worried so it’s best to sit regularly with the problem and look at what’s going on so the focus isn’t lost.
As a guide, after four or so sessions people might need a bit more time between sessions to sit with what they’ve been working on and process what they think and feel about things. Depending on the person, further sessions may spread themselves out to being fortnightly or slightly longer but it is very dependent on the nature of the problem and how they feel about it.
People can contact me today to arrange a first meeting or to ask any questions they have about well being – life transitions, personal and relationship issues, grief and loss, and substance mis-use and abuse.
Together we can work towards a preferred life one might hope for.
